National Qualifier Rules and Regulations

Each entertainer is required to select two (2) songs per category. Please make sure you have your music tracks before
you submit your application. There will be no duplication of songs in each category, and they will be accepted on, first
come first served, basis. (You must select which category you want for High Point you know your best category. One
song with a five minute alloment. Your score will be add to the classifacation you choose.) Background vocals are
permitted on tracks. Anyone singing with voiceovers will be disqualified!
All contestants must sing a country/gospel arrangement of his or her song or they will be disqualified. Contestants who
perform an original composition must show proof of originality.
Contestants will perform in eight-minute allotments per category. Contestants going over this time will be penalized
6 seconds 2 points 7 seconds 3 points 8 seconds 4 points. .
Contestants are required to record all accompaniment music for each category entered on a CD . A backup/duplicate CD
is required for each category entered. Each CD requires a case labeled with name, category and contestants number for
each category entered. Once all songs are submitted and accepted they cannot be changed, unless contestent is notified by
the B.C.M.O.A. Any contestant not having their music properly prepared will be assessed a 5-point penalty. This
includes having their CDs not recorded or labeled properly.
The use of props is permitted in the entertainer category only! Due to safety regulations no contestant may throw
props from the stage area. The BCMOA state director must pre-approve all props.
A panel of qualified judges will be provided by the B.C.M.O.A. The time, manner, and method of judging shall be solely
within the discretion of the contest director. All decisions are final. No contestants are permitted in the restricted
judging areas. Contact with the judges is prohibited. Anyone violating this rule will be disqualified. Spectators will
be asked to leave. Please keep all children out of judging and tabulating area.
Scoring is based on eight areas, Clarity and Volume, Tone Quality, Vocal Range, Sustaining Power, Timing, Stage
Presence, Grooming, and Performance Showmanship. All contestant must meet a ghost score of 60% for National
Qualifier.
The top two scoring contestants in each category,who has not won Peoples Choice Award will advance to the
N.A.C.M.A.I. national competition. If for any reason, either representative cannot attend the national competition, the
next highest scoring contestant will be asked to compete. Every contestant will receive a copy of their score sheets, along
with a master score sheet, within 15 days of the competition.
A Peoples Choice Award will be presented to the contestant who receives the most People Choice Award Ballots. This
contestant will advance to the National Competition in each category he or she competed in. Only adult tickets may cast a
vote in Peoples Choice. The contestant who receives the most ballots and has not finished as the top two scorers in a
category will advance to the national competition as the People Choice award winner. Spectators must be present to cast
a People Choice Ballot.
All industrial categories (i.e., Album, Songwriter, Single and Video of the Year) will be judged prior to the competition.
There must be a typed copy of your lyrics and they must accompany your application and entry fees. The BCMOA will
judge Album, Single and Songwriter categories by CD only. All videos must be on DVD. All industrial awards will be
presented at the awards ceremony the day of competition.
Contestants are responsible for their conduct and the conduct of their guest during the competition. The State Director
reserves the right to disqualify contestants for any unsportsmanlike like conduct by the contestant or a guest of
the contestant. The State Director reserves the right to refuse performance to any contestant that seems
incorrigible or their stage presence seems altered or inhibited.
All contestants must report to the registration table between 9:30A.M. and 10:00 A.M. to receive contestant number(s), and
a performance time schedule. A mandatory contestants meeting will begin at 10:30 a.m. A ten-point penalty will be
assessed to any contestant who is not registered and in attendance of this meeting. Competition will begin
promptly at 11:00 A.M.
All categories are listed on the National Qualifier Entry Form. Legal documentation of age is required for age divisions 3
through 20 years old. Each contestant may compete in one division classification (i.e., Traditional Country, New Country,
Traditional Gospel, or New Gospel and Dance).
Contestants must be current members of the BCMOA. A legal parent or guardian must join and sponsor the
minor participating. Only a custodial parent or guardian of a minor may sign any BCMOA/NACMAI sanctioned
documents. All contestant must fill out the membership application and include their $10.00 membership fee to compete.
The BCMOA Board of Directors must approve all applications.
Proper attire is required. No shorts, torn jeans, bare mid-drifts or revealing attire; you will be asked to change or not
compete. Contestants must wear shoes. Contestants must wear their number on their left front hip or leg when on stage.
Anyone not wearing their number in the correct location will be assessed a 5 point penalty.
Contestants will line up in the reverse order their approved applications are received. The first application received is
the last contestant out on stage in each category. Every contestant must complete an entry form and return them with a
money order or Certified Check will be accepted for their entry fees. NO PERSONAL CHECKS WILL BE ACCEPTED
National Entry forms must be filled out and paid for the day of Competition.
NO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES WILL BE SERVED OR PERMITTED IN THE COMPETITION AREA.
ONLY CONTESTANTS (PARENT/GUARDIAN) ARE PERMITTED IN THE COMPETITION AREA UNTIL THE DOORS OPEN AT 11:00 A.M.
